Abstract
Ultrasonography has become the primary imaging modality in the evaluation of abdominal disease because of the ease quickness of it¡¯s use and high sensitivity in detecting focal or parenchymal disease. The author reviewed the results of 152 abdominal ultrasonographic examinations made for health-screening purposes. Among 152 subjects 51 abnormalities were detected in 45 subjects(29.6%). Among 45 subjects with abnormal findings. 4 subjects had 2 abnormalities and 1 subject had 3 abnormalities: 34 hepatic abnormalities in 32 subjects:9 biliary tract abnormalities in 9 subjects: 6 renal abnormalities in 6 subjects: 2 splenic abnormalities in 2 subjects. These results suggest it is well worth employing ultrasonography for health-screening purposes especially for detecting hepatobiliary system abnormalities.
